The combined water treatment process based on activated sludge technology by HAFI Project & Technology GmbH is a sophisticated and advanced version of the conventional method of treatment with activated sludge. The main differences concern sludge-water separation and recycling of the sludge.
The space requirements in the combined process are minimal, as the rectangular B-reactor and SU-reactors can be designed in a compact configuration. The lower overall volume also contributes to the low space requirements.
The combination of multiple factors makes the combined process highly attractive from an economic point of view:
- Simplified technology and operation without the need for frequent maintenance. The process is fully automated ,with continuous flow at a constant water level.
- Easily build compact rectangular pools with common walls and flat bottoms even in limited space. The combined process is suitable for reconstruction of existing WWTP due to its modular nature.
- Highly efficient, high treatment capacity and decomposition of carbon compounds. Performs nitrification, denitrification and phosphorus removal. It has high process stability both in large and in small loads.
- Low investment and reinvestment costs - low energy and service by a limited number of staff.
